Support of the Loving Laura Project
CIA and its volunteers goes in to a different mission each year to give it a recharge for all the great work they're doing. 2019 will be held at St Luke's Mission of Mercy. More info to come!
We will be looking for volunteers again this year to donate their time to sell plastic bags at the Christmas in the Country Artisan Fair, November 1-4 with a typical shift being 2-3 hours. Proceeds go towards supporting future CIA mission efforts. Call Sue Rich to sign up for a shift at 716-648-5785.
A high point of our Christmas season is getting to go to local group homes to carol. We sing our favorite Christmas songs, share fellowship and cookies with the residents. We will meet at Hamburg Presbyterian Church first to get into groups. Please let Sue Rich know if you can make it at 716-648-5785.
Collecting a forgotten necessity for those who need it most. Our member churches collect NEW men's, women's and children's underwear and socks during the month of September. We then donate to 6-8 local missions.
Drop off will be the last Sunday of September, 9/30 at St. Francis, 12-2pm.
The project started to give Laura a peaceful resting place after she was murdered after years of abuse at the hands of her mother and brother. Laura was 23, but had the mental capability of an 8 year old. She was defenseless against the evil that consumed her life. Loving Lauraprovides a strong voice that speaks out with a bold statement against the atrocities waged against a beautiful, innocent girl. This year the ‘Angel of Hope’ memorial statue named in honnor of Laura will stand as a symbol of hope for all who have lost a child for any reason. It will be placed at Forest Lawn Cemetery in 2018.
